What to expect

California Polytechnic State University (CPSU) had an ambitious strategy to centralize all university IT to provide the best possible service for students. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted a number of emerging challenges and expectations from a new generation of students. Speaking frankly, they described old methods of software delivery as a dumpster fire and knew they needed to work fast. Working with AppsAnywhere, CPSU created the Cal Poly Software Hub (software.calpoly.edu), an app store-style platform that gives Cal Poly students, faculty, and staff access to software that is currently available for academic use. This software not only helped centralize IT but also offered an incredible amount of flexibility to faculty and students alike!

Centralizing IT with AppsAnywhere

Cal Poly's motto is Learn by Doing. That's exactly what they did when they implemented a centralized IT strategy to provide a more cohesive service to students. They have a mammoth task when it comes to software delivery. Recently they hit over the 70,000 mark of student applications, all studying courses across 65 different bachelor's degrees, 39 master's degrees, 84 minor degrees, and 13 credentials. Successfully centralizing their IT offered an incredible amount of flexibility to faculty and students alike and now sharing the process is Cal Poly's passionate thought leader and Associate Vice President.
