What are remote applications?

Remote application technology is one of the many solutions you can use to deliver apps. The way it works is by installing the individual applications on a central server. The user then accesses the app on the server (where the app is actually running) from their remote device, anywhere.

The end user effectively receives real-time ‘screenshots’ of the application/desktop they’re using, whilst being able to fully interact with it using local peripherals. Because the apps are centrally-managed from one place, it’s quick to publish new apps and desktops to all your remote devices.

    After setting up Parallels RAS, you can use an intuitive and simple wizard to publish your apps and desktops on the server in a matter of minutes.

  • 2. Set permissions

    Change provisions to set who can access apps and desktops. Parallels RAS supports multi-factor authentication mechanisms including Radius, DeepNet, and SafeNet.

  • 3. Access apps

    Once apps and desktops are published and provisioned, they can be remotely accessed by any device or any web browser (with the HTML5 client).

Using Cloudpaging packages with Parallels RAS

By combining Parallels RAS with Cloudpaging application virtualization, you can realize the benefits of both technologies whilst only needing to prepare and package your apps once. Package your apps with Cloudpaging first, then use the same package in a variety of technologies, depending on your use case, to save IT time and resources.
